The repertoire will be based primarily on the compositions of Jobim as well as original pieces of Horta and famous Jazz standards giving rise to harmonies and phrases decidedly appealing.

Toninho Horta grew up in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. When he was fourteen, he met Milton Nascimento, who became a lifelong friend and occasional collaborator.

His work on Clube da Esquina (1972) by Nascimento led to opportunities with Antonio Carlos Jobim, João Bosco, Nana Caymmi, Gal Costa, and Elis Regina. Hisdebut solo album was Terras Dos Passaros in 1980, released in the U.S. through Capitol Recordsin 1990.

has worked for many years as arranger and sideman for Brazilian artists such as Elis Regina, Milton Nascimento, Maria Bethania, João Bosco, Airto Moreira, Edu Lobo, Nana Caymmi, Flora Purim, Gal Costa, Sérgio Mendes, Chico Buarque, Flávio Venturini, Joyce, Johnny Alf, Wagner Tiso, Francis Hime, and Beto Guedes. He moved to the U.S, and in time worked with Pat Metheny, Wayne Shorter, Sergio Mendes, Herbie Hancock, Billy Higgins, George Duke, the Manhattan Transfer and many others.

 

Piero Odorici was born in Bologna.

He appreciated jazz after many years of classical studies. His first jazz teacher was Giorgio Baiocco, then he studied in deep musical theory and practice with Sal Nistico and Steve

Grossman.

He started his career playing as a leader or

sideman in several Italian and international groups in Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Finland, Canada, Japan, Belgium, Luxemburg, USA ecc….

During his long career he has collaborated and recorded with world famous artists like Cedar Walton, George Cables, Eumir Deodato, Diane Schuur, Curtis Fuller, Cyrus Chestnut, Billy Higgins, Slide Hampton, Eddie Henderson, Ben Riley, Jimmy Cobb, Sal Nistico, Steve Grossman, Red Rodney, Jack Walrath, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Steve Lacy, Billy Hart, Dee Dee Bridgewater,P eter Bernstein, Jack McDuff, Mingus Big Band, Vincent Herring, Joey Di Francesco, One For All, John Hicks, Alvin Queen, Ronnie Mathews, Antonio Faraò, Enrico Pieranunzi, Massimo Urbani, Roberto Gatto, Danilo Rea, Larry Nocella, Tullio De Piscopo …

He has collaborated with international stars of the pop scene like Luciano Pavarotti, Gloria Gaynor, Grace Jones, George Michael and others…

In 2011 he recorded in New York his last CD “Piero Odorici with the Cedar Walton Trio” produced by the legendary pianist Ceder Walton for the Savant music label. The record is distributed throughout the world by the WEA Warner’s from March 27, 2012
